Google Chrome OS Cr-48
Recently a major announcement from Google is the Chrome OS, Google Chrome has just announced that OS ... is not yet finished. It's still a lot to do with the HD camera drivers (Laptop Dual USB ports), finishing the Cloud Network of Google Print, and even more issues. But if you want to get the first notebook in your hands, Google has luckily announced a new pilot program for the Chrome OS. Google will distribute a small notebook called Cr-48. These are not for sale yet , But they are designed as test units for early adopters.
Consumers will be able to apply for this new first come, first serve test environment, though Google but Google is not giving it away to anyone. On his Facebook Fan Page, Sergey Brin ran a promotion a couple of days ago, announcing a sticker for a laptop Chrome, if you've made the quiz complete with correct answers, you get a chance to win a Chrome OS laptop. If you go to youtube.com/googlechrome and make a new, fresh and exicting video that shows why you're an ideal Google candidate for this free laptop, you will have the opportunity to snag a new notebook. And everyone in the audience at the recent showcase event is becoming a Google evangelist. And if you do not fall into any of those preset buckets, you can go to Google to apply to win a new Chrome OS netbook.
The CR-48 should boot in less than 10 seconds, the netbook includes ah HD webcam, and 14-inch LCD display. It is 3.2 kg with 18 hours of battery life and a week of standby sleep time, according to marketing materials given to attendees by Google. Eventually, production partners will produce Chromebooks that you can actually buy in stores.

I'm anxious to see where we go with this new operating system from the boys at Google!
In my opinion, we are witnessing the world of software that finally starts to move away from the Linux open source platform, and in recent days it has become clear to me why we are headed towards the OS world that Google has built for us. The reason is that Linux is elegance, not fitness for a particular task when it comes to mobile computing.
Linux really is much like a multi-user server OS platform and as a help desk. The only place that shines on the old Sun mainframe world, where many users compete for scarce app resources differently. Those days are over.
So what we are witnessing is the birth of the Google operating systems drop down the matter with multi-user licenses (which gives rise to its elegance in the words of its developers), because that particular task can be much better off user for perception (participation of apps and a new disk architecture.)
Thus the user and the developer come to work in a framework that facilitates both its use plus the OS development. A fantastic case in point: Chrome Meego and OS.
What do you need an Microsoft operating system once you drop the requirement for multi-user (and Administrators) is a simplified version of the Google core, a few OS drivers, a GUI app toolkit, and a dynamic tablet language (as is the shell). The browser offers the last two in a known configuration. This makes the Google Chrome OS have a bare metal platform promising, but clearly needs to evolve with the web.
Surprisingly, I have to conclude that Linux is now dead! Intel knows, Google knows, but is quiet about it. The future is much like most Windows 7 that you never thought was possible.
These are the Google OS platforms that will fight for the user, not ignored, as has been the tradition. Interesting times for buyers of the new Chrome OS no doubt.
